Walking through Hamline.
Orange brick building
Modern architecture.
Small sapling trees grow all around.
David Cruz Morales is 22 years old. He was born in El Salvador and came to the U.S. around eight years ago. School was something that he knew he wanted to pursue, but it was difficult because of the language barrier, which he happily overcame. He has also achieved the desire he had for school, he is graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies, as well as being certified as a Paralegal. One of his biggest passions is creative writing, mainly poetry, and he's excited to explore more of that field post graduation.
Ryan Isler is a Digital Media Arts major at Hamline University. He was born in Michigan and later came to Minnesota. As he grew up, he developed a passion for playing video games and always wondered how they worked underneath the hood. He discovered programming and began teaching himself how to create flash games and later discovered music, arts, and other forms of digital expression once he began studying at Hamline University. He is currently working on back-end programming practices for an upcomming senior seminar project for Spring of 2017!
Light poles, cement and concrete
Blemishes on our mother’s fair skin.
Small little steps, she takes to avenge.
Her revenge is assured, but perhaps maybe not.
The great Giddens, known to almost all
Is fighting a war.
Close to his mouth.
Mother Nature is climbing his walls.
Overtaking his body.
Her fingers are nestled, extending like vines
On the very same orange brinks, that
Make up his glory, his shrine.
His demeanor is tall and never obscure
The intellectual giants, it houses inside
Their footsteps are heard,
They rumble through history
They echo and die but there are always,
More.
Mother Nature holds back.
She knows Hamline’s mission
She forgives but does not forget.
Hamline is a journey,
