Student Work

DMA students create artworks within a wide array of technical disciplines, including photography, video, animation, sound, mobile/web, sculpture, and graphic design.

Storied Spaces

Places have layers upon layers of stories attached to them. But in contemporary culture, we share our stories with others who are unfamiliar with the place and in the process, the place itself becomes abstracted, bereft of meaning.

Storied Spaces is a mobile website that uses the GPS capabilities of a user's phone to allow access to specific content only when the user is near a specific geographic location, connecting real spaces back to stories of their significance.

This project is a rolling collaboration between DMA and other departments at Hamline. The current version of the project features poems written by Creative Writing students and placed in mobile web pages by students of DMA 3460—Advanced Web Design.
