Concrete Music by: Pierre Schaeffer is a body of work and also a method for creating music from recordings of raw sound. What we now know as sampling, and much of our modern day recording technology, stems from Schaeffer's experiments in sound. |
Above is my personal favorite and the final piece from the first collection of his work. It uses many different sounds throughout the piece, but the most distinctive is the speaking and coughing of the human voice. It was one of the very first times anyone experimented with the sampled human voice. |
