Meaning and Image Sources

The idea behind this project was to explore the concept of the Simulation Hypothesis. The Simulation Hypothesis is the idea that the world we live in and everything we know is all a simulation. To present the idea of us living in a simulation and possibly being controlled by somebody else, I compared us to characters from The Sims which is a popular life simulation game. In the game, the player creates the characters (what they look like, what their personality traits are, what types of hobbies they enjoy, etc.) and makes all their life choices for them. This means that essentially they have no autonomy, like how we would be if we also lived in a simulation.

I appropriated this image of this man for my project because I needed an image of somebody that looked formal on a laptop. I wouldn't have been able to take this image on my own because the photos that I would've captured with my skill level would not have matched the image I had envisioned in my head.
