Over the past several months of quarantine and catastrophic world events, I've noticed a pervailing sense of unreality that has been difficult to shake. In Realm of Recollection, my aim was to visually depict the surreal state that my view of the world currently occupies, so I chose to supplement this composition using photographs from the past year that I thought were visually striking or significant for one reason or another. These images can be found below, and were all photographed by me:

However, I also had to appropriate one image to create this photomanipulation. I chose to include a high-resolution photograph of the moon, titled Full moon over moraine, which was taken by Ellen Morris Bishop. I decided to appropriate this image because I do not have the adequate photography equipment for capturing a high resolution close-up of the Moon with nearly as much detail as this photo. Additionally, its dramatic visual quality was enticing, and seemed like it would lend itself well to the rest of my composition.
