Bush Soul #3 is a piece in Allen's interactive series, Bush Soul. The series explores how humans interact with a virtual world inhabited by artificial life. The 1999 piece takes inspiration from a West African belief a person has multiple souls, one of which is a "bush soul" that dwells within a wild animal of bush.

Allen's work represents the soul as a sphere of pulsing energy. Feelings are shown as computer generated characters. A force-feedback joystick provides both navigation and sensations, creating a connection between the user's physical body and the virtual soul on the screen. The work premiered in 1998 and was last shown in 2019. Allen is a very recognized artist in the field of behavior and technology.
