Stats - Ability Scores
Ability scores, or character stats, are the numbers that explain your character's mental and physical condictions. The ability scores
are located on the left hand side of traditional character sheets. The higher the number in the box, the better your character is at that ability (a flirty character would want a charisma score of 15-13).
There are different ways to determine these numbers. However, the most popular way is "Standard Array." This means the player places one of the following set (15,14,13,12,10)
in the desired category. Each score also a modifier. The modifier is the number that is added to a roll during a save, check, or attack. The six abilities are:
Strength - physical power
Constitution - endurance and health
Intelligence - reasoning and memory
Wisdom - perception and insight
Abilities in game
During the game the Dungeon Master (DM) will ask players to roll their d20s when the player attempt to complete tasks. If a player's character is attempting to remember all the ingredients of potion, the DM
will ask for an Inelligence. If the player rolls a 13 on the d20, the player will add or subtract their Intelligence modifier to the 13. This will determine if the character is able to remember
all of the items. The higher the result, the more likely the desired outcome will happen.
Certain classes and Race may also increase modifiers. The score to modifier relationship is as follows:
Score: 14-15 -> Modifier: +2
Score: 12-13 -> Modifier: +1
Score: 10-11 -> Modifier: +0
Score: 8-9 -> Modifier: -1
